Do You Feel Lonely?
Let’s fight loneliness together!
Humans Are Social Beings
Some people feel most alive among others and truly flourish when they have someone to share both their joy and their sorrow with. Others need far fewer interactions to feel content. Yet one thing is true for all of us: we need human connection and meaningful relationships.
This is why loneliness can hurt so deeply. Among those who suffer are people who long for a romantic relationship, yet despite their efforts, they struggle to form one. Behind this struggle, many painful thoughts and emotions may arise:
- They feel worthless to others.
- They do not see themselves as attractive enough, or they tie the illusion of being “good enough” to unattainable standards they have set for themselves.
- They do not know how to meet others because they are inhibited, afraid of embarrassment, or even terrified of rejection.
- They believe their flaws make them unlovable in the long run and feel undeserving of love.
- They are convinced that the other gender should initiate, believing they have no responsibility—sometimes distancing themselves from relationships altogether by saying, “relationships only bring trouble anyway.”
Our negative thoughts can feel endless. Behind them often lie low self-esteem, difficulties with forming relationships, idealized fantasies, unrealistic expectations, discouraging role models, or even depression. Recognizing that we need help to change these patterns is essential.
Through self-awareness and professional support, these difficulties can gradually be worked through, eased, or even resolved. This allows you to turn toward others with openness and confidence, initiate connections, and build relationships.
To Begin, Here Are a Few Important Reminders:
1. Pay Attention to Yourself
We usually pay attention to those we love. We listen to them, try to please them, and stay present in both good and difficult times.
So let’s do the same for ourselves. Tune in to your needs, desires, emotions, and inner signals.
2. Do What You Need – Not What You “Should”
One key pillar of self-love is choosing people, activities, and relationships that truly nourish and support you.
By listening to your needs, you will better understand what truly serves you and what choices are right for you.
3. Practice Self-Care
Make sure you get enough sleep, eat well, move your body regularly, and nurture your relationships. These habits support mental balance and help you build a healthier relationship with yourself.
4. Set Clear Boundaries
Self-love also means protecting yourself.
Say no to people, tasks, and activities that drain you physically, emotionally, or mentally.
Although setting boundaries is not easy, it leads to a more authentic, balanced, and self-aligned life.
5. Be Mindful of Who You Surround Yourself With
Some “friends” may smile at your happiness without genuine sincerity.
It is worth letting go of these connections and investing in relationships with people who truly support you and share in your joy—this is the essence of real friendship.
6. Forgive Yourself
No one is perfect; everyone makes mistakes. Instead of being harsh with yourself, practice understanding and compassion.
Forgive yourself for what you didn’t know before you had the chance to learn or experience it.
There is no true failure—only lessons.
7. Be Conscious and Intentional
Have goals and plans. Even if your direction is not perfectly clear, knowing roughly where you want to go makes decisions easier.
Each milestone you reach strengthens your self-esteem and confidence. And when things don’t go as planned, you can always learn and grow from the experience.
